Fun Philly event coming up! Check out Sugar House Casino and get free cocktails and spa services!

Friday night I met up with the PhillyFABB bloggers at the media preview for the Rent the Runway pop-up showroom in Philly. This is the perfect opportunity for women who have been considering Rent the Runway but would like to be able to try on the dresses before renting. There are a few sizes of each dress on hand (there’s evening and cocktail styles and a surprising array of really cute daytime dresses) and today and tomorrow (March 23-24) you can get 20% off your dress rental. Tickets are just $6 on Living Social. Well worth it if you have a wedding or event to go to this summer.

(Me and my awesome colorist Christine.)
A couple weeks ago I had the pleasure of working with Master Stylist Christine at the Andre Richard Salon in Philadelphia on a fun color scheme for my hair. The salon was running a “Blonde Ambition” event with 20% off all blonding services. (Tip: All first time color clients can ask for 20% off their service!) While I am a blonde, and I did have inches of roots that needed taking care of, I was also working on a story on how to get the colorful streaks from the runway. Andre and Christine were happy to work with me on the story, and I was really pleased with how much creativity and originality Christine brought to my color. I’ve been coloring my hair funky colors at home pretty much since I was a teen. When I went freelance oh those many moons ago, I started experimenting with color again, often doing crimson or purple panels underneath my top layer of blonde. But I had never had these bright colors done professionally and wasn’t sure what to expect.
Christine looked at the colors I had brought with me, and ended up using four colors the salon carried in my hair - a magenta, a purple, a blue and a lavender. She talked to me about the colors I wore mostin my wardrobe so the hues in my hair would be a good fit. The placement was really great and something I could never have accomplished on my own. Plus, she added a Kelly-Osbourne-esque lavender on top of my fresh highlights. I really liked that she took what I suggested and with my blessing really gave me a look I couldn’t have come up with on my own.
